Professor (W 2) of Fundamentals of Visual Art / Drawing

The position is initially for a period of five years; decisions on possible exceptions will be taken during the course of the appointment procedure.


The successful candidate will be a person of recognised artistic standing with experience in teaching and research who will have the task of teaching drawing within the framework of artistic fundamentals in the Art faculty.
Applicants will be expected to introduce students to both traditional and experimental methods in drawing. Course units are generally conducted in German. 

As well as fulfilling the general professional requirements of § 35 of the Higher Education Act of the German federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, the successful candidate will also be expected to have the following:

- Evidence of independent artistic work and exhibition activity in the area of contemporary drawing
- Teaching experience at a university or at corresponding non-university institutions
- Continuous individual guidance of all students within the framework of the Fundamentals of Visual Art within the Art faculty
- The ability to further develop this teaching area
- Conceptual and content-related participation in interdisciplinary activities within the context of the further development of the university
- Willingness to actively participate in academic self-administration
