Cooperating with knowledge institutions, businesses and educational institutes, this professor will design a challenging research agenda focused on relevant innovations for society and the professional field. An important element of the task is to develop the Centre of Expertise for Future Creators in collaboration with the Fashion professorship: research, fashion and design which focus on the sustainable use of materials and new creative processes.

ArtEZ is one of the major art institutes in the Netherlands, with locations in Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle. ArtEZ offers high-quality Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in the area of architecture, visual art, design, dance, music and theatre. Professor of Product & Interior Design / Exploring the New Domestic Landscape

Cooperating with knowledge institutions, businesses and educational institutes, this professor will design a challenging research agenda focused on relevant innovations for society and the professional field. An important element of the task is to develop the Centre of Expertise for Future Creators in collaboration with the Fashion professorship: research, fashion and design which focus on the sustainable use of materials and new creative processes.

Your responsibilities
Like the other professorships and Master’s programmes, this professorship is part of a future Graduate School. This Graduate School will create the theoretical and practical art-specific research foundation, flanked by applied research from broad polytechnics and the academic research. This research will be designed in direct correlation with the degree programmes. The professor’s most important tasks are:

- Providing leadership for the future research group
- Developing a theoretical foundation for the discipline
- Cooperate with our degree programmes to create a coherent research programme
- Involving students, alumni and lecturers in the research programme
- Linking research and the result to Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes
- Supervising PhD candidates and researchers
- Contributing to the professionalisation of the field
- Regularly publishing on topics in the field in established and recognised media at international level
- Leading in the national and international network of the discipline

Your profile
Given the nature of the position, we are looking for someone who is capable of establishing a new research tradition for Product & Interior Design. This is why we feel it is important for the new professor to have:
- Evidenced high-quality knowledge and experience within the field of Product & Interior Design, supported by a relevant network and a visible presence in relevant publications in the relevant field;
- Academic knowledge and experience, as demonstrated through having completed a PhD in a related discipline to guarantee collaboration with academic universities through the supervision of PhD candidates, for example;
- Evidenced pedagogical knowledge and experience within a Higher Education art institute;
- Organisational ability, to help shape our new Graduate School, of which the professorships, in addition to the Master’s programmes, are an important part;
- Entrepreneurial strength to build an influential professorship together with the business community and other knowledge institutions in the coming years.

Our offer
The appointment is for a period of four years with a work load of 0.8 Full Time Equivalent (32 hours per week). After good performance there is the possibility of four additional years. Depending on knowledge and experience the salary scale offered will be in the 14 or 15 band of the collective labour agreement for higher professional education (CAO-HBO) on the basis of a 36-hour work week (1.0 Full Time Equivalent).
In addition to an informal and open work atmosphere we offer attractive secondary terms according to the CAO-HBO, such as an 8% holiday allowance, a 13th month and attractive study and development opportunities. The work location is Arnhem.

These two interview rounds are followed by a meeting with the review committee, also planned for the week of the 14th of December.
